During the dull gray days of November and December in the Pacific Northwest it is always a treat to get a sunny day. This week we’ve been fortunate with a string of clear (but cold) days and the sunsets and sunrises have been magnificent.
Looking east over the water of the Courtenay Estuary.
This series of sunset images was taken at the Courtenay Estuary, an estuary that is designated as an Important Bird Area. As the sun went down, large flocks of Canada geese flew overhead to joint the countless ducks and gulls that were already settling in for the night on the calm water of the bay.
A calm evening on the Courtenay estuary reflects the beautiful colours of the sunset.
Deep blue evening sky reflected in the water of the bay - a nice change from winter rain.
And while the sun was going down, the full moon was coming up.
Moon rise on a rare clear evening on the west coast of BC.
And so ends another beautiful day in the Comox Valley.

These are beautiful shots…..they have such a feeling of peace and serenity! I love how the subtle colors are reflecting on the water. These are gorgeous and your moon picture is awesome too!
